Superior Queen Room In Bairnsdale.

Mitchell-On-Main-family-friendly-hotels-near-you

The Superior Queen Rooms at Mitchell On Main Motel were stripped back and rebuilt in early 2024 — new mattresses, new bathrooms, new everything that mattered. Each room comes with a Queen bed, walk-in ensuite, Nespresso machine, work desk, Foxtel, and free unlimited Wi-Fi (no “premium tier” upsell, never has been).

Comfortable lounge seating and — in five of the rooms — a private courtyard out the back makes this our most-booked room category for couples on the Lakes Entrance run, business travellers heading to Sale or Traralgon, and weekenders who’d rather not drive home after dinner. The Superior Queen sleeps a maximum of 2 guests, and the entire property is strictly non-smoking, indoors and out.

───  Room-specific FAQ

Got another question about this room? Call reception any time on +61 3 5152 5012, or email info@mitchellonmain.com.au — we usually reply within an hour during business hours.

How many people can stay in a Superior Queen Room?

Two adults, maximum. The room’s set up for couples and solo travellers — there’s one Queen bed, no rollaway space, and we don’t allow extra mattresses on the floor (it’s a 4-star room, not a backpacker dorm). Travelling with kids or a third adult? Our Family Suite or interconnecting Queen rooms work much better — give reception a call on (03) 5152 5012 and we’ll sort the right room.

Three things separate it from our Standard Queen. First, a Nespresso machine with complimentary pods, not just a kettle and instant sachets. Second, a proper work desk with USB charging — not the flip-down ironing board doubling as a desk. Third, a fully refurbished ensuite with walk-in shower, instead of the older bath-shower combo with the curtain that always sticks to your leg. Same square footage, much better fit-out. Bedding’s also been upgraded to 400-thread-count cotton percale.
Check-in: 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Check-out: by 10:00 AM. If you’re arriving after 7 PM, ring ahead — we’ll leave a key in our after-hours lockbox and email you the code. Late check-out until midday is usually fine if we don’t have a same-day arrival; just ask at breakfast.
Yes — free, off-street, undercover parking right outside your door. The car park sits on private property behind our front gate, with a single entry/exit and motion-activated lighting after dark. We’ve not had a vehicle incident in over a decade. That said, we don’t insure guest vehicles, so don’t leave a $3,000 mountain bike on the back seat.

The room is strictly non-smoking — that includes vaping, candles, and incense. There’s a designated smoking area near the bin enclosure on the eastern side of the property, signposted from the car park. Cleaning fees for smoking inside the room are $250, and yes, our cleaners can tell.

Honestly, yes — about 40% of stays in this room are business. You get a full work desk (not a flip-down ironing board), a wired Ethernet port if Wi-Fi gives you grief, in-room Nespresso, and the train station is 350 m away if you’re heading to Melbourne for the day. We can also arrange early breakfast trays from 6 AM with 24 hours notice, and the front desk can print/scan up to 50 pages a day for free.
Book direct, full stop. We match any rate you find on Booking.com, Expedia or Wotif — just send us a screenshot before check-in and you keep the OTA’s price. Booking direct also means free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival on most dates, which the third-party sites don’t always offer, plus a free continental breakfast on stays of 2+ nights. The 15% commission those sites take — we’d rather pass that back to you.
